We finally finished our bridal interviews in time for the Oregon Wedding Showcase. Take a look here as we spoke with 3 brides who discussed their experience with Vivid Wedding Films.

Reno, Baby!

Thats what we do. By plane, train or automobile, we go where the action is at. Recently that just happened to be Reno, Nevada, shooting a wedding film for Katie & Kyle. This wedding film project was a collaboration with our Portland Oregon friends, Whitney and Dan over at www.blissstudio.net we had the pleasure of shooting their wedding film in Portland a few years back, check them out for some innovative wedding photography. Thanks for lending us a few stills for the Vivid Wedding Films blog guys, nice work as usual!

We will post some footage of the Katie & Kyle film once it hits the editing room. They were great to work with, because they understood the importance of setting ample time aside in their busy wedding day for both great videography and photography, the two go hand in hand. They left capturing the images of the day to us, and did exactly what every couple should do on their wedding day…..BREATHE DEEP & ENJOY IT! Thanks for showing us the beautiful state of Nevada on a crisp fall day.

Back From the Bahamas

We just got back from filming a wedding in Nassau, Bahamas. What an amazing place. Karen and Louis, from New Jersey, had us down to capture their amazing day. Glen Johnson, one of the best destination photographers around, took the stills and we handled the video.

We had a great time getting to know Louis and Karen’s family over the course of the 2 days we filmed. They were a joy to be with and get to know.

They were married on one of the beaches of Paradise Island and we took most of the footage in and around the Atlantis.

My still photos don’t do it justice (but wait for the video), but here’s a few shots that I was able to take during the time.

Again, thanks to Louis and Karen, along with their families, for an amazing time. We really enjoyed capturing your special day.

A Beautiful Wedding in Golden, Colorado

We recently returned from the beautiful state of Colorado where we had the privilege to shoot Annie and Andy’s wedding. It took place just outside of Denver in the city of Golden. A very nice little city and a beautiful fall day for a wedding.

I’ll post more after we get more done in the editing room. We’re starting to plow through our “end of summer/early fall” weddings and hope to get most of them done soon after the new year. It’s been an eventful year for Vivid and we’re looking forward already to 2008!

Leavenworth Wedding

Just returned from filming a wedding in Leavenworth, WA. What an amazing place. The wedding actually took place just outside of the city, way up in the mountains. After about a 3 mile drive up nearly 1000 vertical feet you reach a place nestled into the mountain side, called Mountain Home Lodge.

It was a beautiful setting for a wedding, however, there were quite a few bees around. That made filming very interesting. The couple getting married, Shamus and Heidi were great to work with. Very comfortable with each other which made getting great art shots that much easier. I’ve begun capturing the footage this week and so far, it’s looking good. I’m excited to begin cutting stuff together for them.

Flying in to Wenatchee the morning of the wedding was also pretty cool. Below is a photo taken of Mt Rainier as we flew over the Washington Cascades. The Northwest is such a great part of the country. We’re lucky to live/work here.

Well, that’s all for now. Back to work on another wedding film.

Capturing the Emotions of the Day

We just received this email from Susan, whose video we finished last week (see below):

Wow ~ We watched the dvd this morning and it was awesome! I love the way you played with the lyrics “steady” as we stumbled around! The “quiet town” lyric worked out great too! I know we will be on MTV soon, ha!

Thank you also for capturing the emotions of the day, which really can be seen better than in still photos.

I was a bit reluctant at first, kind of expensive you know, but I’m really thrilled we went with this medium. I hope to be watching the dvd, sitting in my rocking chair, when I’m really old, in 20 years time or so…

New Addition…

Congratulations to Vivid co-owner, Ryan Welch and his wife Susan as they just gave birth to their second child, a girl. Avin Jean was born Monday morning here in Eugene.

The Season For Wedding Films

We have been so overwhelmed with responses for our Wedding Films this season. We have had the opportunity to collaborate with so many great couples, and the year is only half over. We had the pleasure of creating an intimate Wedding Film for Jason and Joyce recently, they were married at a church, then had an intimate reception at the home where Jason grew up. Here is a short vignette that we are working on in the editing room.

Summer is Here!

It’s been a busy summer for us thus far. We’ve hardly had a chance to keep the blog updated, sorry for that. We’ve shot 4 weddings in the last 3 weeks and have 3 more this next 2 weekends.

A Toast from Iraq

A very cool thing happened at the last wedding we were at. Right after the toasts ended, Ryan Brincat, an honorary groomsman stationed in Iraq called in and offered a quick greeting to the couple and all in attendance. It was a very cool moment. View it here.
